FEAST 'OF JESUS' CHRIST THE KING (21 November 2010)

Thy Kingdom
the world of men

"Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom "(gospel) is the prayer addressed to the King by one of the criminals crucified next to him. He does not ask who is "image of the invisible God" (II reading) to release him from that terrible death but to live in eternity, in communion with him and the Father. His repentance becomes a certain step towards salvation. We, too, on the Solemnity of Christ the King, which ends the liturgical year, placing us in contemplating the mystery of the cross, we are called upon to illuminate the Christian virtue of hope with the many situations that seem to crucify our existential space.

In the history of Israel with the anointing of King David (I Read) has started the birth of the kingdom. The sovereignty of the dying Christ is beyond human logic and royalty. His is a kingdom of peace, harmony open to humanity redeemed by his sacrifice. If with humble hearts we know the kingship of Christ in our lives, trusting in divine mercy, the cross will appear as the only way of inner freedom and salvation.
