BAPTISM OF THE LORD (January 9, 2011)

THIS is my Son, the Beloved: LISTEN!

BROTHERS define the Orthodox feast of the Baptism of the Theophany. In the narrative of the Synoptics we have in fact a full manifestation of the Trinity: Jesus listens to the voice of the Father, who proclaimed him the beloved Son, and receives the gift of the Spirit. Everything happens as he agrees to go down into the brotherhood of sinners, receiving them with the same baptism of repentance given by John. He lives therefore its unique relationship with the Father, which is the only begotten Son, in solidarity with all men, because in him we can become children of the same Father and brothers among us.

Each of us can now be certain to be a beloved child of God, filled with his Spirit. Is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah (The Reading): The chosen one in whom God is pleased and on which Jesus has placed His Spirit God is with him, and consecrate him the good news of peace (Reading II), because he might be Lord of all, gets rid of any other rule of evil and sin. This is the righteousness that Jesus says it wants to accomplish: Justice makes us righteous, because it introduces us to in the report that he lives in the Spirit with the Father.
